A Small Act of Kindness | 小さな親切

My little niece showed me the example of how to care about others, especially her loved ones recently.

One day, after getting chronic migraines as usual, I said, “Ahh....” unconsciously.

(I just could not really think of anything else because of the pain.)

I was not screaming at all. Instead, it was more like “whispering”.

Then,

my niece, who seemed to be into play pretend with her favorite stuffed bunny,

suddenly faced straight toward me, and said,

“I care about you! Are you alright? I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better soon. I’m here for you. I like you a lot!” (and more kind words while patting me on the head.)

I was surprised that she did actually notice what I just whispered.

I believe most of people would be happy to hear that they are cared.

She just reminded me of the important things that “caring about someone would not always have to be...

a fantastic way,

and also it doesn’t always mean to be...

doing a tremendous act,

or

going to the great expense to do something.

先日、私の姪が、大切な人をどのように気にかけるかを模範で示してくれました。

ある日、私がいつものように偏頭痛で頭を抱えながら(痛みが酷過ぎて何も考えられず) 無意識のうちに「ああぁ...」と言った時、

それが叫び声ではなく、ささやき声に近かったにも関わらず、

お気に入りのうさぎのお人形とごっこ遊びに夢中になっていた姪が

すぐさま、

私の方をまっすぐ向いて、

「大丈夫？あらー心配だよ...。かわいそうに。早く良くなるといいね。そばにいるよ。大好きだよ！」

(そしてもっと優しい言葉を言って頭を撫でてくれました。)

私は、彼女が私のささやき声に気がついたことに驚きました。

誰かに自分のことを気にかけてもらうのは、ほとんどの人が嬉しいと感じることだと思います。

この出来事を通して私は姪から、

誰かを気にかけることは...

いつも素晴らしい方法である必要はなく、

ものすごい行動である必要も、

大金をかけて何かをする必要もないと

再認識することが出来ました。
