Isolation and Loneliness |
I just thought of “isolation” and “loneliness” because of a big hit from COVID-19 that a lot of people might have taken and needed more support in multiple ways.
Isolation may lead to loneliness, or loneliness can cause isolation in general.
I am for sure there are tons of reasons to be isolated and feel lonely such as...
1-Staying home most /all of the time
(not being around others for long periods of time)
2-Technology
(the internet can bring us closer / making us feel like we are not really talking)
3-Looking after someone else
(being a carer for someone close to you who has a disability, sickness, addiction, or mental illness and not really talking to people outside)
4-Racism
(being discriminated against any person because of the age, color, nationality etc.)
5-Not fitting in
(bullying or being alienated from a social group)
6-Mental health
(such as bipolar, anxiety, depression, addiction, phobia etc.)
7-Physical challenges
(a range of physical challenges including hearing loss, blindness, abusive relationships, eating disorder etc.)
8-Others
(many more cases including moving to a new location, breakups, divorce, the death of a close friend or loved one etc.)
(It might be more and more cases...)
I am not going to dig into the cases one by one though if I would pick one from the lists above,
I would like to talk about 1-Staying home most /all of the time today.
First, if you are isolated under quarantine, especially when being forced to stay at home alone, I personally hope you do not always have to feel lonely.
I do want all of us including myself to remember that Wherever we are staying at, our relationships with family, friends, and others should not be changed all of a sudden (except for some reason) under this quarantine.
Nowadays, I believe most of people have multiple ways to communicate/ connect with others including online resources and of course phone calls.
Alternative ways to *meet up* and face to face with people using those resources wisely, we can still be *together* or I could also say in the same page socially, mentally, emotionally, or even spiritually.
I will keep you in my prayers!
Thanks for reading, as always.
